The Dance of Stillness

We will spend the afternoon connecting deeply, both physically and energetically.
We will start with an all levels Vinyasa class for two hours. In this all levels practice, similar to Jen’s Monday and Wednesday morning classes at GRY, we will explore standing postures, backbends and inversions, always modified to suit the students’ level.
After a short break, we will experience an hour of Yoga Nidra. Yoga Nidra (The yogic dream or “extended Savasana”) will help us integrate our spiritual body with our physical body. Part guided relaxation, part meditation, part self-hypnosis, this practice is a lying down style of meditation that works with an intention to bring more peace, healing and clarity to your life. Folks often report seeing colours, having out of body experiences, deep emotional releases, or sensing spiritual guides. Try to come with an open mind and no expectations.
Challenging and restoring, this practice is aimed at practitioners with a minimum of two years of experience in yoga. If you are a regular at Jen’s morning Vinyasa classes (sweaty!!) then you are more than capable of getting a lot out of this special afternoon.
Prepare to be physically challenged, to open yourself emotionally and to leave with a clarity of direction that extends to all areas of your life. Deep shifts are possible!

BIO

Jen has been a committed dancer since she was eight years old. A devoted student of Hatha Yoga since 1999 and a certified teacher since 2004, Jennifer trained at the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga under devotees of Baba Hari Dass while he was still alive. In 2010 she met Yogi Amrit Desi and experienced a miracle healing while attending one of his workshops. This experience led her to become a certified Amrit Yoga Nidra Instructor. Since 2010 she has practiced bodywork as a certified Thai and Deep Tissue Massage Practitioner, including working at world renowned education centre, Hollyhock, for four seasons. Jennifer’s unwavering passion as a dancer, dedication to the philosophy of yoga, and commitment to the practice of bodywork, have led her to weave total body integration into the art of deep relaxation. She deeply believes in the power of Yoga Nidra.
